Bharat's living knowledge traditions, filmed across South India with a 30-member crew at 30 heritage sites, and premiered to the G20 Education Working Group.
The Film
A film made for the Indian Knowledge Systems Division of the Ministry of Education during India's G20 presidency, produced under Prachyam. Its brief was to present Bharat's living knowledge traditions to an audience of global education ministers and policymakers — viewers with no background in the subject and little time.
How I Made It
I conceptualised the film as an immersive documentary, working from the register of international natural-history and travel documentary, and led it as creative director and on-ground production lead. Research and coordination ran over a month across South India — Udupi, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka — with a 30-member crew filming at more than 30 ASI-protected heritage locations. I wrote the script, served as senior editor and oversaw post-production including narrative rhythm, music and voiceover sessions. Praveen Chaturvedi narrated. The commission was led on the Ministry side by Prof. Ganti Murthy of the IKS Division.
Where It Landed
The film premiered at the G20 Education Working Group sessions. It is now used as an educational primer in Indian universities.
